What is the HDV virus?

HDV is the abbreviation of hepatitis D virus, the virus itself is a small molecular weight exogenous closed-loop RNA molecule, a defective virus without an outer membrane, which needs to coexist with hepatitis B virus and cannot infect the human body alone, so it is often clinically infected with hepatitis B virus at the same time or overlapping, which can lead to the deterioration of liver disease. HDV is transmitted by sexual contact. The main routes of transmission are sexual contact, mother-to-child transmission and blood transmission, such as importation of blood or blood products, sharing of syringes, and unprotected sexual contact. Infection can also occur through minor skin or mucous membrane injuries, contact with blood, saliva, semen, or secretions containing HDV. To treat hepatitis D virus should first treat viral hepatitis B. When viral hepatitis B is treated and improved, hepatitis D will also improve accordingly. Especially for patients with combined elevated glutamic and glutamic aminotransferases, they should be injected with interferon or take oral antiviral drugs, usually for six months to one year, and some patients can turn negative. Patients should pay more attention to rest, avoid staying up late and straining, and eat more vegetables, fruits and high-protein foods. If you want to prevent HDV, you should first cut off the transmission route, such as avoiding repeated blood transfusion or use of blood products, quitting drug addiction, strictly sterilizing syringes, needles and acupuncture needles, not having dangerous contact, carefully doing early diagnosis and isolation of patients, disinfecting patients’ excreta and household items, etc.
