Why cirrhosis causing peritonitis is not curable

Peritonitis due to liver cirrhosis is prone to recurrence and therefore not easy to cure, rather than completely incurable. Peritonitis is a common complication in patients with decompensated cirrhosis, which is mainly due to the decrease of immune function, the obstruction of intestinal circulation caused by portal hypertension and gastrointestinal stagnation, which causes the decrease of the barrier function of intestinal mucosa against bacteria, and the increase of bacterial reproduction in the intestinal tract, which can pass through the barrier of intestinal mucosa and enter into the abdominal cavity, and then lead to widespread inflammation of peritoneum. Patients with peritonitis may present with severe abdominal pain, and abdominal palpation shows pressure and rebound pain. It can also be accompanied by generalized fever. If the patient is diagnosed with peritonitis, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital in time, after clarifying the cause of the disease, under the guidance of the doctor to carry out targeted treatment, in order to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
