The causes of postoperative fever after colon cancer can be divided into infectious fever and non-infectious fever. There are many reasons for non-infectious fever, such as prolonged anesthesia, extensive tissue injury, blood transfusion reaction, surgical stress, effect of anesthesia drugs, drug allergy, etc. Fever usually occurs earlier, with an average occurrence time of 1.4 days postoperatively, and it is mostly low or moderate, and seldom exceeds 39℃. Postoperative infection is the most common cause of fever after surgery, appearing relatively late, on average appearing 2.7 days after surgery, and the temperature tends to be higher. Common sites of infection include incision infection, intestinal infection, and intravenous tube infection. If fever occurs after colon cancer surgery, it is recommended to inform the nurse or doctor in charge as soon as possible, so as to assess the condition in time and deal with it accordingly.
