How to check the pancreas

Pancreas can generally be examined through blood tests and imaging tests. 1. Blood test: It can be done by collecting blood and testing the relevant indicators. For acute pancreatitis, special attention should be paid to amylase and lipase in the blood, as both may be increased. Changes in the blood infection index, C-reactive protein and blood calcium should also be noted. In pancreatic tumors such as pancreatic cancer, the levels of CA199 and CA242 of the carbohydrate antigen series may be significantly elevated. 2. Imaging: The most commonly used clinical tests are abdominal ultrasound and CT or abdominal MRI, which can usually determine the exact size and location of the pancreas, and the presence of inflammation and tumors. In addition, due to the proximity of the pancreas to the gastric cavity, ultrasound gastroscopy can provide a complete scan of the pancreas, i.e., after the endoscope enters the gastric cavity, the head, body, and tail of the pancreas can be scanned through the ultrasound probe at the front end of the endoscope in the gastric cavity. It is important to note that not all of the above tests are necessary for everyone, and these tests should be selected at the discretion of the physician.
