Black Shun Tablet, or epiphyllum, is concocted from the Chinese herb epiphyllum. There are no clinical studies to prove that Black Shun Tablet can treat ulcerative colitis. Epiphyllum is a Chinese medicine that is pungent, sweet, and very hot; it is poisonous. It belongs to the heart, kidney and spleen meridians. The effects of epiphyllum are to restore yang to save the body (by warming yang qi to save fainting, unconsciousness, etc.), tonify fire to help yang (to replenish the body’s yang qi), and dissipate cold to relieve pain (by dispelling the body’s cold evil to relieve pain). Radix Psoralea can be used for death and yang deficiency, cold limbs and weak pulse, heart yang deficiency, chest paralysis (stuffy pain in the chest) heart pain, cold vomiting and diarrhea, cold pain in the epigastric region (cold pain felt in the stomach and abdomen), kidney yang deficiency (deficiency of yang qi in kidneys), impotence and uterine coldness, cold yin and oedema, yang deficiency in the external organs, and cold-dampness paralysis and pain. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that can be caused by heredity, immune system abnormalities and other factors. The main symptoms can be seen as chronic diarrhea, mucopurulent and bloody stools, and abdominal pain. Ulcerative colitis is related to dysentery, an internal medicine disease in traditional Chinese medicine, and there are no clinical studies proving that Heishun tablets can treat dysentery or improve symptoms. Clinical treatment modalities for ulcerative colitis include general treatment, medication, and surgery. If you are diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, you should go to the hospital in time, actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment plan, follow the doctor’s instructions, and do not blindly take medication on your own.
