What’s going on with the ulcers on the vulva?

Vulvar ulceration may be related to folliculitis, vaginitis, syphilis and so on. 1. Folliculitis: it may be related to the poor hygiene of the patient’s vulvar area or the decline of his immunity, resulting in vulvar infection, causing inflammation of the follicles and localized ulceration. 2. Vaginitis: Bacterial infections, fungal infections, and decreased levels of estrogen can cause vaginal inflammation. Typical symptoms are itching of the vulva, which may lead to scratching of the vulvar skin and ulceration. 3. Syphilis: due to the infection of syphilis spirochete, causing localized skin lesions on the vulva. Characterized by small erythema on the vulva, round or oval ulcers will be formed after the erythema is necrotic. In addition to the above, ulceration of the vulva can also be caused by other reasons. It is recommended to consult a doctor for further investigations to determine the cause and to provide appropriate treatment or therapy.
