Knee pain should be treated according to the cause of the general treatment, drug therapy, physical therapy and surgical treatment, etc. Common causes include meniscus injury, osteoarthritis of the knee, synovitis, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbar intervertebral disc herniation, and so on.
1. Meniscus injury: in the acute stage, ice packs can be used to reduce pain, while resting and braking, if the injury is serious and the physical condition allows, arthroscopic meniscus repair surgery can be chosen.
2. Osteoarthritis of the knee: painkillers such as ibuprofen or cartilage-nourishing drugs such as glucosamine sulfate can be taken; physical therapy such as hot compresses and massage can be used to relieve pain. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment, such as knee replacement, can be used.
3. Synovitis: For synovitis, oral painkillers such as ibuprofen, intra-articular injection of glucocorticosteroids such as prednisone, and physiotherapy such as baking electricity are feasible. If conservative treatment is not effective, synovectomy is feasible.
4. Rheumatoid arthritis: oral ibuprofen and other analgesics, methotrexate and other immunosuppressants, prednisone and other glucocorticosteroids; for the late stage of serious bone destruction or joint deformity, joint replacement surgery is feasible.
5. Lumbar disc herniation: oral ibuprofen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, epirubicin and other muscle relaxants, methylcobalamin and other nutritive nerve drugs; conservative treatment is ineffective, can be selected under the guidance of the doctor’s surgery, such as minimally invasive nucleus pulposus removal surgery, and so on.
There are many other causes of knee pain, such as gout, etc. It is recommended that people with persistent unremitting knee pain should consult a doctor in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and carry out standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor. The medication should be applied according to the doctor’s prescription.
