Minimally invasive surgery encompasses many aspects, mainly including lumpectomy minimally invasive surgery, endoscopic surgery minimally invasive surgery, interventional ultrasound minimally invasive surgery, and interventional radiology minimally invasive surgery. For example, if a patient wants to have an appendectomy, the appendix used to be removed openly, but now the appendix can be removed laparoscopically, with only 2-3 incisions in the abdomen, or even only one incision. If one wants to have a radical resection of colon cancer, which used to require a long incision of about 20 cm, the surgery can now be done down using only 4-5 small incisions. Previously, if there was intestinal bleeding, only conservative treatment could be given or part of the intestinal canal could be removed, which was more traumatic. Currently, interventional embolization of bleeding vessels can be performed under X-ray, which can solve the fundamental problem with minimal trauma.
