Cock-eye in children is usually referred to as binocular internal strabismus. A hospital visit is recommended to first determine whether it is pseudo or true esotropia. True Esotropia is divided into Adjustable Esotropia and Non-Adjustable Esotropia. False esotropia usually requires no treatment, while true esotropia requires correction with glasses or surgery.
1. False Esotropia: It is related to the congenital development of children, such as the inner canthus, the root of the nose is flat and not straight, etc. It will improve with age. If it is still obvious in school age, affecting aesthetics and causing children’s inferiority complex, it can be considered to perform eye opening surgery.
2. True internal strabismus:
(1) Adjustable Esotropia: mostly caused by high hyperopia. Wearing eyeglasses after pupil dilation and optometry with atropine gel can correct part of the esotropia.
(2) Non-adjustable strabismus: congenital abnormal development of eye muscles, when the effect of treatment through glasses is unsatisfactory, surgery will be considered.
It is recommended that children with eye anomalies should consult a doctor in time for early diagnosis and intervention so as not to affect the development of children’s vision.
