Is there a high cure rate for depression?

The cure rate of depression is high compared to other mental disorders such as schizophrenia.
According to Shen Yu Chuen Psychiatry, about 15% of patients do not achieve clinical cure after treatment with antidepressant drugs. If treatment is adhered to, there is still a 20% relapse rate, and if treatment is not adhered to, the relapse rate is as high as 85%. Within six months of cure, about 20% of patients may relapse.

1. Clinical treatment is effective: Hamilton Depression Scale or Montgomery-Esberg Depression Rating Scale score reduction rate is greater than 50%;
2. Clinical cure: complete disappearance of depressive symptoms for more than two weeks, less than six months, Hamilton Depression Scale 17 scores less than or equal to 7 and good recovery of social function;
3. Clinically cured: complete resolution of depressive symptoms or stable remission for at least six months;
4. Relapse: recurrence and exacerbation of symptoms during the period of clinical cure;
5. relapse: the occurrence of a new depressive episode after cure.
