How effective is immunotherapy for gallbladder cancer

Immunotherapy has certain clinical effects on some patients with gallbladder cancer. Gallbladder cancer refers to malignant tumors occurring in gallbladder (including the bottom, body, neck and ducts of gallbladder). Immunotherapy, as an adjuvant treatment for gallbladder cancer, mainly activates the body’s own immune system and strengthens its own immunity to fight against cancer cells and tumor tissues, so as to partially eliminate or even completely kill the cancer cells, therefore, immunotherapy can be used as a treatment method for gallbladder cancer. Gallbladder cancer is a kind of highly malignant tumor, patients often have no clinical discomfort in the early stage, and it is usually found in the middle or late stage. If gallbladder cancer is found in the early stage and treated by surgery as early as possible, and then radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy are carried out after the surgery, it is of great significance for prolonging the life of the patients and improving the quality of their life. In patients with unresectable or recurrent gallbladder cancer who present with high microsatellite instability or deficient cellular mismatch repair mechanisms, treatment with the immune checkpoint inhibitors karelizumab or nabumab may be beneficial. A domestic study included patients with cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder cancer who received GEMOX chemotherapy combined with carelizumab for more than 2 months; 12 cases achieved partial remission, 12 cases had stable disease, and 2 cases had disease progression. If the patients have any discomfort, they should go to the hospital for examination in time, and should not be careless so as not to delay the treatment. Drug treatment please strictly follow the doctor’s instructions, do not self-medication.
