Tonsillectomy is not a minor surgery. Tonsillectomy is one of the routine ENT surgeries, which can be performed under local anesthesia for tonsil stripping or tonsil squeezing, or under general anesthesia for tonsil stripping, tonsil squeezing, or tonsil plasma ablation. Because of the large tonsils, after tonsil surgery, the tonsillar fossa is more invasive and most likely to cause postoperative bleeding, and severe post-tonsil bleeding can cause shock and even death. After tonsillectomy, the tonsil fossa surgical trauma is very large, larger than the average trauma surgical incision. Moreover, tonsil surgery is routinely performed without sutures and is completely exposed, so the tonsil fossa is prone to postoperative infection and bleeding. The tonsils are supplied by five arteries, and the risk of bleeding after tonsil surgery is still relatively high, so tonsillectomy cannot be considered a minor surgery.
