The original formula of Three Substances Scutellaria Tang is composed of Scutellaria baicalensis, Bitter ginseng and Dried Radix et Rhizoma Dioscoreae. It is used in treating post-partum illnesses such as wind, irritable heat in the limbs, but no headache. Scutellaria Baicalensis Tang has the effect of nourishing Blood and nourishing Yin, and is effective in treating symptoms such as warm dampness and fever, irritable heat in the hands and feet, eczema, and fever due to Yin deficiency. It should be noted that because this formula is bitter and cold, it is not suitable for people with cold spleen and stomach (spleen and stomach weak and cold), low food intake, or loose stools (thin and unshaped stools), and it should be used only after consulting a doctor and following his/her instructions, and should not be used blindly on one’s own.
