The formula of Ba Zheng San includes Qu Mai, Polygonum aviculare, Mudong, Slippery Stone, Plantago Ovata, Rhubarb, Gardenia, and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae.
The efficacy of Bazheng San is to clear heat and fire (removing heat and fire from the body), diuretic and lymphatic, treating dampness-heat gonorrhea (increased urination, drenching and pain), for urinary frequency and urgency, astringent pain when drowning, drenching and leaking, retention of urine (urine dripping or not being able to urinate) and obstruction of urine flow, acute fullness of the abdomen, and dryness of the mouth and throat, and so on.
Qu Mai diuresis passes gonorrhea, clears heat and cools blood (relieves blood heat by clearing heat), Mutong diuresis reduces water and fire mainly, supplemented by Bianzhu, Cheqian, and Talc to clear heat and dampness (removes heat and dampness in the body), and diuresis passes gonorrhea, and gardenia and rhubarb to clear heat and diarrhea fire and induce heat to go down the drain, and licorice and medicinal herbs to ease the urgency and relieve astringent pain of the urinary tract. The combination of all the drugs has the effect of clearing heat and diarrhea, diuresis and lymphatic drainage.
