Drug sensitivity testing for pulmonary tuberculosis usually takes a relatively long time, usually 4-6 weeks. Because of the slow growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, its culture time is relatively long, and it usually takes 3-4 weeks to be cultured. If Mycobacterium tuberculosis is seen in sputum culture, it takes about 1 week to do the corresponding drug sensitivity test afterwards, so the tuberculosis drug sensitivity test takes a longer time. Most patients with primary tuberculosis do not need sputum culture and drug sensitivity test for tuberculosis, and generally these patients are sensitive to anti-tuberculosis drugs and can be cured after early standardized anti-tuberculosis treatment. However, for patients who do not use drugs regularly or have poor compliance, drug-resistant tuberculosis often occurs. Patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis need to improve the culture of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and drug sensitivity test, and select sensitive anti-tuberculosis drugs for treatment according to the culture results and drug sensitivity test results.
