Are enlarged turbinates in children serious?

Turbinate hypertrophy in children is mostly caused by acute and chronic rhinitis, and is not serious when the hypertrophy is not obvious. When the degree of hypertrophy is obvious, it is more serious, parents should pay attention to it, and it can be treated by medication or surgery.
In acute rhinitis, children’s nasal mucosa will be congested and thickened, and the tissue under the mucosa will proliferate, which will lead to temporary turbinate enlargement. If the hypertrophy is not obvious, it may heal on its own. If the hypertrophy is more obvious, medication such as rinsing the nasal cavity with saline and using nasal spray hormone is needed.
For turbinate hypertrophy caused by chronic rhinitis, when the turbinate swelling is not very serious, it may heal on its own. When the situation is more serious, or for a longer period of time to form hypertrophic rhinitis, can not be self-healing, need to use saline rinse nasal cavity, use nasal spray hormone medication.
If there is no obvious effect after medication, physical therapy or plasma ablation may be needed for inferior turbinate surgery.
When children have enlarged nasal turbinates, parents are advised to bring their children to the doctor in time, and medication should be taken as prescribed by the doctor, on time and according to the dosage, to avoid aggravation of the condition.
