How to read blood glucose and lipid labs

Blood glucose labs focus on fasting blood glucose, 2-hour post glycemic load blood glucose, and lipids look at total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL. The normal value of fasting blood glucose is 3.9~6.1mmol/L, and the normal value of two-hour blood glucose of oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is less than 7.8mmol/L. Diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed if the fasting blood glucose is ≥7.0mmol/L or the two-hour blood glucose of OGTT is ≥11.1mmol/L, or the random blood glucose is ≥11.1mmol/L and there are symptoms related to diabetes mellitus. Lipid panel generally includes triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, etc. Elevated triglycerides and LDL suggest an increased risk of atherosclerosis. If the values of blood glucose and blood lipid tests are abnormal, you should seek medical advice and treatment under the guidance of your physician.
