Neonatal syringomyelia is most often caused by chronic inflammation of the syringomyelia, surgery, and delayed development of the lymphatic system. Most of them need to improve the symptoms by means of bed rest, puncture treatment or surgery. 1. Bed rest: Neonatal syringomyelia is mostly characterized by pain and swelling of the scrotum, and most of the patients with small amounts of fluid can subside on their own, so no treatment is needed. 2. Puncture treatment: when the syringomyelia is infected, the patient usually needs to do scrotal puncture drainage, and in severe cases, surgical treatment is needed. Most of the symptoms can be relieved after drainage. 3. Surgery: patients with testicular lesions or congenital inguinal hernia need to undergo surgery as soon as possible to prevent the effects of later treatment. Newborns with syringomyelia need to follow the doctor’s instructions for observation, parents should also pay close attention to the swelling area, once the condition recurs, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible.
