How to treat femoral head necrosis conservatively

Conservative treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head mainly includes general treatment, drug treatment and physical therapy. 1. General treatment: stop taking glucocorticoid, drinking alcohol and other factors that may induce and aggravate femoral head necrosis. Reduce weight bearing, avoid confrontational sports, and for serious cases, use double crutches for activities. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can improve hypoxia, thus promoting the growth of femoral bone cells. 2. Drug therapy: In early stage of osteonecrosis of the femoral head, anticoagulant drugs such as low molecular heparin, vasodilator drugs such as prostaglandin and lipid-lowering drugs such as atorvastatin can be used to improve local blood circulation. In other periods, drugs that inhibit bone destruction and promote bone formation, such as alendronate, can be used. 3. Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy such as shock wave therapy can be used to improve local blood circulation, stimulate blood vessel regeneration and induce bone growth. Necrosis of the femoral head requires timely medical treatment, complete examination, clarify the severity and staging, and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment. Most of the necrosis of the femoral head progresses relatively quickly, conservative treatment may not be effective, and ultimately still need surgery. The use of medication must be under the guidance of a doctor.
