Minoxidil does not grow beards. Minoxidil is a peripheral vasodilator that, when used topically for a prolonged period of time, stimulates hair growth in patients with male-pattern baldness and pemphigus vulgaris, the exact mechanism of its treatment of alopecia areata is not yet clear, and there are no definitive studies showing that minoxidil helps beard growth.
