Fibromyalgia syndrome, also known as fibromyalgia, is characterized by chronic, widespread skeletal muscle pain, discomfort, stiffness, fatigue, mood disorders, sleep disturbances and soft tissue tenderness. Fibromyalgia syndrome occurs in middle-aged women, and the prevalence increases linearly with age. It is characterized by widespread chronic skeletal muscle pain, mostly associated with skin tenderness, with variable intensity and wandering pain, which cannot be clearly differentiated from arthralgia or myalgia, and widespread and symmetrically distributed pressure points. There are widespread and symmetrically distributed pressure points, accompanied by stiffness and fatigue. Other symptoms include anxiety, depression, laziness, memory loss, and sleep disturbances. There may be other somatic symptoms such as weakness and fever, dizziness and headache, chest tightness and shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting. Patients with fibromyalgia syndrome are advised to visit their local hospitals for early treatment under medical supervision.
