Newborn babies with yellowish gooey eyes may be caused by gonococcal conjunctivitis and neonatal dacryocystitis. 1. Gonococcal conjunctivitis: usually because the pregnant mother suffers from gonorrhea, the newborn is infected when passing through the birth canal, usually both eyes at the same time. It manifests as acute purulent conjunctivitis, and newborn babies may have yellowish eye boogers that cover their eyes. 2. Neonatal dacryocystitis: because the end of the nasolacrimal duct is blocked, not naturally open, tears and secretions can not be normally drained, if the secondary infection, newborn infants will appear in the eyes of yellow boogers, often accompanied by obvious symptoms of tearing. If a newborn baby has yellow eye droppings, it is recommended that parents take their newborn baby to the hospital for standardized treatment in order to avoid delaying the condition.
