What’s wrong with tinnitus?

Tinnitus is the subjective sensation of sound in the ear or in the skull without a corresponding external sound source or electrical stimulus. Tinnitus is a symptom rather than a disease. Many diseases can cause tinnitus, such as outer ear lesions, inner ear lesions, middle ear lesions, psychological factors and vascular factors. 1. External ear lesions: cerumen impaction, tumor of the external ear canal, foreign body in the external ear canal, etc. may lead to blockage of the external ear canal, thus causing tinnitus. 2. Inner ear lesions: otosclerosis, inner ear infection, fluid in the labyrinth of the inner eardrum, trauma, Meniere’s disease, etc., can also cause tinnitus. 3. Middle ear lesions: purulent otitis media, tympanic membrane perforation, auditory ossicle chain abnormality, eustachian tube dysfunction, etc., can also cause tinnitus. 4. Psychological factors: sleep disorders, mood swings, mental tension, etc., may also induce tinnitus. 5. Vascular factors: atherosclerosis, hypertension, carotid aneurysm, jugular venous bulboma, etc., may also cause tinnitus. Tinnitus is caused by many diseases, in addition to the above factors, drug factors, acoustic neuroma, concussion and other diseases may also induce tinnitus. If the phenomenon occurs for a long time, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to improve the examination and give standardized treatment after a clear diagnosis.
