Does severe myelosuppression indicate good chemotherapy?

Severe myelosuppression does not indicate that chemotherapy is effective, and may even slow down the chemotherapy thus affecting its efficacy. Chemotherapy is one of the main means of treating malignant tumors, and myelosuppression is its common adverse reaction, most of the patients treated with chemotherapy drugs, there will be different degrees of myelosuppression. Specific drugs include cytarabine, Zoerythromycin and so on. In general, the bone marrow suppression caused by chemotherapy regimens of high intensity and high dose is more severe. In this regard, severe myelosuppression is indicative of high intensity chemotherapy rather than good chemotherapy. In mild myelosuppression, chemotherapy is usually not affected, while in severe myelosuppression, chemotherapy needs to be stopped and leukocyte- or platelet-boosting drugs (granulocyte-stimulating factor, human thrombopoietin) need to be used to avoid serious infections and bleeding. After the myelosuppression is corrected, the doctor will consider whether it is necessary to reduce the dose or intensity of the chemotherapy drugs or change the chemotherapy regimen. Specific treatments and medications should be administered under the supervision of a physician.
