Can cancer be detected by checking tumor markers

It is possible to detect cancer, but not to confirm the diagnosis; some cancer tumor markers are not high.
Tumor markers are a class of substances that characteristically exist in malignant tumor cells, or are abnormally produced by malignant tumor cells, or are produced by the host in response to the stimulus of the tumor, and can reflect tumorigenesis and development, and monitor the tumor’s response to treatment. They are used for early detection, screening, census and differential diagnosis of tumors.
However, tumor markers cannot be the only basis for tumor diagnosis, and cancer cannot be detected solely by tumor markers. Due to the individual differences of patients and their specific clinical conditions, the analysis of tumor markers should be combined with clinical conditions and compared from multiple angles in order to draw objective and real conclusions.
Certain tumor markers can be abnormally elevated under certain physiological conditions or in certain benign diseases, which need to be identified; in the early stage of cancer development, the level of tumor markers may not be elevated; and some cancers have no known tumor markers.
If positive tumor markers are found, enough attention should be paid, and pathological biopsy can be carried out in time to make a clear diagnosis, and then surgery and postoperative radiotherapy can be carried out, so as to have a better prognosis. And in daily life, patients should also pay attention to develop good living habits, which can prevent the occurrence of tumor diseases.
