What is the symptom of a bloodshot eye?

Eye congestion is categorized into conjunctival congestion as well as ciliary congestion, which may be caused by conjunctivitis, keratitis, glaucoma, uveitis and other diseases.

1. Conjunctivitis: the conjunctiva is rich in blood vessels, when inflammation occurs in the conjunctiva, the inflammatory factors produced will stimulate conjunctival congestion.

2. Keratitis: There are ciliary blood vessels under the rim of the cornea, and when inflammation occurs in the cornea, it stimulates the ciliary blood vessels to become congested.

3. Glaucoma: poor circulation of aqueous humor in the eye leads to increased intraocular pressure, which may compress the ciliary blood vessels and cause congestion of the eyeball, and in severe cases, it may cause mixed congestion of the conjunctiva and the ciliary blood vessels.

4. Uveitis: ciliary blood vessels are part of the uvea, when the occurrence of anterior uveitis and other inflammatory diseases of the uvea, it will lead to ciliary congestion.
