Herbal remedies for nephritis

Nephritis can be categorized as edema in Chinese medicine and can be treated with Chinese herbal formulae such as Jisheng Kidney Qi Pill and Ginseng Astragali Di Huang Tang. Jisheng Kidney Qi Pill has the effect of warming the kidneys and transforming qi, inducing diuresis and eliminating edema (clearing urine and eliminating edema). It is used in treating kidney deficiency and edema caused by deficiency of kidney yang (lack of yang qi in the kidney), internal retention of water-dampness (water-dampness stays in the body), lumbar and knee fatigue and heaviness, urinary incontinence (unsmooth urination), and phlegm-drinking (pathological product formed by impaired metabolism of water and fluid) coughing and wheezing. Radix Astragali Di Huang Tang has the effect of benefiting qi and nourishing yin (tonifying qi and yin), nourishing the kidney and strengthening the spleen. It is used for treating deficiency of the spleen and kidneys, and deficiency of both qi and yin (deficiency of both qi and yin). Symptoms include dizziness, lumbar and knee weakness (a feeling of soreness and weakness in the waist and knees), low-grade fever and tiredness, heat in the hands and feet, shortness of breath and easy sweating, and a reddish tongue with scanty moss. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor promptly. If medication is needed, it should be identified by a doctor and standardized treatment should be followed.
