There are three treatment options for Eustachian tube obstruction, which mainly include medication, Eustachian tube blowout therapy, and surgery.
Pharmacologic treatment, empirical use of antibacterial drugs (e.g., amoxicillin) and antiviral drugs (e.g., oseltamivir), is mainly aimed at Eustachian tube obstruction caused by acute inflammation of the Eustachian tube, and it can effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms of Eustachian tube obstruction caused by bacteria and viruses.
1% ephedrine nasal drops and nasopharyngeal and intranasal application of antihistamine sprays and intranasal hormone sprays are effective for acute Eustachian tube obstruction, but the long-term efficacy for chronic Eustachian tube obstruction is uncertain.
2. Eustachian tube blowing treatment, endoscopically guided catheter inserted into the pharyngeal orifice of the Eustachian tube, blowing the tympanic membrane and then injecting hormones, alpha chymotrypsin and antibiotics into the tympanic chamber, which can achieve the purpose of reducing swelling, anti-inflammation, mucus discharge and restoration of the pressure in the middle ear without damaging the tympanic membrane.
3. Surgical treatment mainly includes tympanotomy and tube placement, laser tympanostomy, cause-specific surgical treatment, and special treatment methods in tympanoplasty. Surgical treatment is usually used for patients who are not well treated with conservative therapy.
The above three options are the treatment options for Eustachian tube obstruction, patients are not recommended to buy the above drugs on their own to avoid serious adverse reactions, should be purchased and used under the guidance of a professional doctor.
