Is hepatitis B surface antigen positive serious?

Positive surface antigen of hepatitis B virus is only an indicator of hepatitis B to detect whether it is infected or not, it does not assess the severity, and needs to be based on other tests to make a comprehensive judgment. Hepatitis B virus is a relatively common viral hepatitis in China, and further progression may lead to cirrhosis formation or even liver cancer. People with hepatitis B infection are positive for surface surface antigen, which is an important basis for diagnosing hepatitis B. It is important for these patients to undergo lab tests such as liver function tests, liver ultrasound, alpha-fetoprotein, etc. on a regular basis to assess the possibility of progression to cirrhosis or even liver cancer. Simply having this antigen positive is only of diagnostic significance clinically and does not assess the severity of the patient’s condition, so assessment of severity should be based on other tests as well as the patient’s general condition more accurately.
