Infant’s jerking and tilting backward is usually a normal phenomenon in infants, but it may also be caused by the development of dystonia, epilepsy, and so on. 1. Normal phenomenon: Infants with neck muscle dysplasia may have the symptom of jerking backward, i.e., straightening the head and tilting it backward, in the normal state or when the infant cries. This is a physiological phenomenon and usually does not require special treatment. 2. Increased muscle tone: If the infant frequently tilts his head back and is unable to maintain a normal posture, it is an indication of abnormal muscle tone. Because of the imperfect motor development of infants, they may have jerking and tilting back. It should be analyzed in conjunction with other clinical signs, such as the ability to raise the head. 3. Epilepsy: If the baby was born with hypoxia, intrauterine asphyxia, amniotic fluid contamination, etc., and in normal times often appear jerking back, twitching limbs, foaming at the mouth, etc. This situation can not be ruled out to be epilepsy. After ruling out the normal phenomenon causing the baby to jerk back, should promptly consult a doctor, and active treatment, to avoid delaying the condition.
