Symptoms of epiglottis cysts

An epiglottis cyst is a cystic swelling formed by mucus retention due to obstruction of the mucous gland ducts of the epiglottis mucosa. There are no obvious symptoms when the cysts are small, but when there are more cysts or infections, they may manifest as foreign body sensation in the pharynx, sore throat, difficulty in swallowing, laryngeal obstruction, dyspnea and other symptoms. 1. Foreign body sensation in the pharynx: due to the elevated swelling in the epiglottis area, it is always felt that there is a foreign body sensation in the pharynx, especially when swallowing. 2. Throat pain and dysphagia: If the cyst is infected with purulent cysts, it may cause pain in the throat and dysphagia. 3. Laryngeal obstruction: Large cysts, especially congenital large cysts of the epiglottis in infants and young children, can lead to laryngeal obstruction. 4. Dyspnea: When the cyst is large, it may block the airway and cause dyspnea and breathlessness. Patients with epiglottis cysts who experience the above symptoms should go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
