Does turmeric work as a pain reliever

Turmeric has pain relieving effects. It is a member of the ginger family and has the effect of breaking the blood and moving qi, and relieving menstruation and pain.
Turmeric is warm and bitter and pungent in nature, and goes to the liver and spleen meridians. Turmeric enters both the blood (the deepest stage or disease site among the four periods of warm disease, Wei Qi and Ying Blood) and the atmosphere, which can activate blood and move qi to relieve pain (relieving pain by regulating the body’s qi).
The drug can be used to treat pain syndromes caused by Qi stagnation and Blood stasis. For example, for chest paralysis (stuffy pain in the chest), it can be combined with Angelica, Mucuna pruriens and Wu Yao. To treat dystocia (pain in the area of the coarseness and ribs), it is combined with Citrus aurantium dulcis and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae. To treat bruises, it can be combined with frankincense and myrrh.
Turmeric can also be used to relieve menstruation and pain, and to treat rheumatic paralysis, with Qiang Wu, Angelica sinensis and Fang Feng. It can also be used externally with Angelica dahurica to treat toothache, and with smallpox pollen to treat ulcers and carbuncles.
The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear. Turmeric is contraindicated in pregnant women. Please use the drug under the guidance of a physician.
