If there is no jaundice, can it be cholangiocarcinoma?

Cholangiocarcinoma can be divided into intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. There is no jaundice when each type of cholangiocarcinoma develops. 1. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: Early stage of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma usually has no symptoms and does not have jaundice. Compared with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma seldom shows jaundice. 2. Extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: If hilar cholangiocarcinoma originates from one side of hepatic duct, jaundice may not appear in the early stage, and obvious obstructive jaundice will not appear until the tumor extends to one side of hepatic duct. For cancer originating from the confluence of left and right hepatic ducts and the upper end of common hepatic duct, early jaundice and symmetrical hepatomegaly may appear. Obstructive jaundice appears generally earlier in middle and lower cholangiocarcinomas. For patients suspected or diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, they should go to relevant departments of regular hospitals as soon as possible for consultation and treatment under the guidance of professional doctors, so as to achieve the goal of “early discovery, early diagnosis and early treatment”, and to avoid delaying the condition which may lead to bad results.
