A positive hepatitis B e antibody indicates a decrease in viral replication and a decrease in infectivity. If the hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B e antibody and hepatitis B core antibody are all positive at the same time, it means that the hepatitis B virus is not actively replicating. If only the hepatitis B e antibody and core antibody are positive, it means that the hepatitis B virus was once infected, but the virus has been cleared and is now recovering, but protective antibodies have not yet been produced. If the hepatitis B surface antibody, hepatitis B e antibody, and hepatitis B core antibody are all positive, the virus has been cleared after infection with the hepatitis B virus and is now producing protective antibodies to the surface antibody. The higher the titer of antibodies, the better the protection of the organism.
