Young children with pinhole, also known as granuloma, are not always able to heal on their own, and only some of them are able to eliminate the infection and heal on their own, which usually takes about a week to two weeks.
Pinhole, also known as granuloma, is a common ophthalmic condition that is caused by a lack of eye hygiene, resulting in acute inflammation caused by bacterial infection of the eyelid glands or eyelash follicles inside the eyelid, with localized redness, swelling, heat and pain.
It is generally not recommended to wait for the infection to heal on its own, as only some patients are able to eliminate the infection with the body’s resistance, which usually takes about a week to two weeks. In some cases, the infection may worsen and even form an abscess, so it is important to treat granuloma in a timely manner.
Currently, the main treatment is to apply hot compresses to the eye and antibiotic eye ointment, such as tobramycin ointment, to promote its recession. Specific treatment and medication should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor.
