The treatments for dry mouth syndrome include local treatment, systemic treatment, symptomatic management and biological agent treatment. 1. Local treatment: It may be difficult to alleviate dry mouth. One should stop smoking, drinking alcohol and avoid medications that cause dry mouth, keep the mouth clean and reduce dental caries and secondary oral infections. Alternatives such as artificial tears, artificial saliva, and gels can reduce local symptoms. the M3 agonist trichostatin can be used to improve symptoms of dry mouth and eyes. 2. Systemic treatment: For patients with arthritis, interstitial lung disease, extra-salivary manifestations such as hepatic, renal and neurologic symptoms, glucocorticoids such as prednisone and immunosuppressants such as hydroxychloroquine should be given according to the severity of the disease. 3. Symptomatic treatment: If acute hypokalemia occurs, intravenous potassium supplementation should be given as the main treatment, and after stabilization, oral potassium tablets should be given, and some patients need to take them for life to prevent the recurrence of hypokalemia. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as celecoxib, are effective for muscle and joint pain. 4.
