Usually two hours after the gastroenteroscopy, if the patient has no obvious gastrointestinal discomfort, he/she can eat and drink normally. Usually gastroenteroscopy is one of the commonly used examination methods in gastroenterology, if the patient only undergoes this type of examination without sampling biopsy or other procedures, he/she can eat liquid food or semi-liquid food if he/she has no obvious pain and nausea in the stomach and intestines two hours after the examination. If the patient is undergoing a histologic biopsy with gastroenteroscopy, he or she may be required to fast for 4-6 hours, and if the patient is not experiencing any discomfort, he or she may eat liquid or semi-liquid foods and may resume a normal diet the next day. If the patient is undergoing polypectomy or other treatment at the same time as the gastroenteroscopy, he or she may be able to eat normally for 12-24 hours after the examination. Patients need to follow the advice of their medical professionals on the exact timing of eating after gastroenteroscopy.
