How many Norfloxacin capsules a day for adults



Norfloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics and is mostly used in the treatment of urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, prostatitis, intestinal infections, and Salmonella typhi infections. Adults take Norfloxacin in different dosages for different diseases. For urinary tract infections, prostatitis, and intestinal infections, take 8 capsules twice a day; for gonorrhea and typhoid fever, take 8 to 12 capsules a day.

Norfloxacin achieves broad-spectrum antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis and preventing bacterial replication. When Norfloxacin is used to treat adult urinary tract infections, prostatitis, and intestinal infections, 4 capsules are taken twice a day, and the course of treatment depends on the condition; when treating adult gonococcal urethritis, 8~12 capsules are usually taken in a single dose; when treating adult typhoid fever, 8~12 capsules are taken in 2~3 times a day.

The common adverse reactions of norfloxacin are abdominal discomfort, dizziness and headache, rash, skin itching, etc. It is prohibited for patients who are allergic to fluoroquinolones, and those with hepatic or renal insufficiency need to follow the doctor’s instructions for dosage adjustment.
