Adenoid hypertrophy can be treated by moxibustion of the following acupuncture points: the first one is the Dazhi point, which is located in the concave position below the spinous process of the 7th cervical vertebra; the second one is the Lung Yu point, which is located 1.5 cm next to the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra; the third one is the Tiandu point, which is located in the middle of the neck, in the center of the upper sternal fossa, between the left and right sternocleidomastoid muscles; and the fourth one is the Renying point. It is located next to the laryngeal node, at the anterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, where the common carotid artery pulsates. Clinically, for adenoid hypertrophy, if the hypertrophy is mild or moderate, some patients may have relief through moxibustion in the above mentioned locations, but for patients with severe adenoid hypertrophy, it is best to consider surgery.
