Female contraceptive rings, also called birth control rings, need to enter the body through the vagina, and can be categorized into vaginal contraceptive rings and intrauterine devices.
1. Vaginal contraceptive ring: when used for the first time, the ring should be placed in the back of the vagina on the 5th day of menstruation by medical personnel.
2. Intrauterine device (IUD): The IUD is usually placed vaginally at the bottom of the uterine cavity 3 to 7 days after the menstrual period has completely cleared.
After placing the IUD, there may be adverse reactions such as irregular vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain and back pain. There is also a possibility that the IUD may move out of position or fall off, so it is important to have regular checkups in the first year after the IUD is placed.
In addition, the placement of the IUD may lead to ectopic pregnancy, so women must be vigilant. Avoid heavy physical activities and sexual intercourse for two weeks after the placement of the IUD, and take anti-inflammatory drugs such as amoxicillin under the guidance of a doctor.
