What’s wrong with unequal pupil size in both eyes?

Patients with unequal pupils in both eyes and blurred vision may be caused by motor nerve palsy, ocular trauma, sympathetic nerve abnormality and so on.
1. Motor nerve palsy: motor nerve palsy can be seen in brain tumor, stroke, encephalitis and other intracranial lesions, but also related to diabetic peripheral neuropathy, due to motor nerve dysfunction, the affected side of the pupil sphincter function is limited, the patient can appear in both eyes pupils of different sizes, blurred vision and other uncomfortable symptoms.
2. Ocular trauma: severe extrusion, impact, contusion and other traumatic injuries lead to pupil sphincter, pupil opening muscle and other muscles that control the size of the pupil dysfunction, which can lead to the pupil size of the injured side and the healthy side is not the same, the light enters the eye can not be accurately converged on the retina, the patient may also have blurred vision.
3. Sympathetic nerve abnormality: Sympathetic nerve upper cervical node compression and stimulation leads to the affected side of the pupil shrinkage, eyeball invagination, eyelid ptosis and other symptoms, also known as Horner’s syndrome.
