Some patients with Grade 1 hypertension can return to normal blood pressure through diet and exercise interventions and weight loss, with individual differences, and the need for medication should be followed by a physician. Grade 1 hypertension refers to patients with systolic blood pressure between 140 and 159 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure between 90 and 99 mmHg. They should be evaluated by a doctor and can start with diet and exercise intervention if they do not currently have other risk factors such as high blood lipids or high blood sugar. Blood pressure can also return to normal in some patients. Weight control is needed first. Overweight and obese patients are prone to symptoms of hypertension and need to lose weight through dietary control and physical exercise. The diet of hypertensive patients should reduce the intake of saturated fatty acids and cholesterol, and consume more vegetables as well as low-fat dairy products. Sodium intake should be controlled, and it is recommended to consume no more than 6 grams of sodium per day. Adopt good living habits and routine. Bad habits such as low sleep, high stress, smoking and drinking may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Hypertensive patients are advised to stop smoking and limit alcohol consumption, go to bed early and get up early, and maintain a good mood, which will help to control the blood pressure level. During the above diet and exercise interventions, patients with Grade 1 hypertension should strengthen their blood pressure monitoring. If their blood pressure is still at a high level, they need to go to the hospital in time and take antihypertensive medication as prescribed by the doctor if necessary.
