How to relieve a splitting headache from a cold

Cold headache can be relieved by resting more, if not improved, it can be relieved by using antipyretic, antiviral and other drugs such as Ambroxol.

Colds are sub-limited diseases and can be relieved by resting, drinking plenty of fluids and eating a light, digestible diet. If there is no improvement, medication can be used as follows:

1. Antipyretic and analgesic drugs: can relieve headache, fever and other symptoms caused by common cold. Commonly used drugs include ibuprofen and diclofenac sodium. They are prohibited for pregnant and lactating women.

2. Antiviral drugs: the disease is self-limiting, generally no need for antiviral treatment. If influenza virus infection is considered, antiviral therapy, such as oseltamivir, may be administered. The safety and efficacy of oseltamivir in the treatment of influenza in children under 1 year of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended.

3. Others: Use pseudoephedrine when there is sneezing, runny nose and obvious nasal congestion, and use Ambroxol to reduce phlegm when there is thick phlegm that is not easy to cough.

If the cold does not improve or worsens, it is necessary to consult a doctor. The above medicines should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
