Do all intestinal polyps need to be removed?

It is not necessary to remove all intestinal polyps, because intestinal polyps are divided into tumor polyps and non-tumor polyps, and tumor polyps may become malignant and lead to colorectal cancer with the accumulation of time. More than 95% of colorectal cancers are due to malignant transformation of tumor polyps, so tumor polyps should be surgically removed in time once they are clearly diagnosed to prevent malignant transformation at a later stage. Neoplastic polyps include villous adenoma, tubular adenoma and mixed tubular villous adenoma. Non-neoplastic polyps, including hyperplastic polyps, inflammatory polyps, etc., do not become malignant and are mostly multiple, so they do not require surgical removal to treat the primary disease. If the inflammatory polyps are caused by inflammation, the treatment of intestinal inflammation is the main focus.
