The cure for schizophrenia generally includes three methods, namely medication, psychotherapy and psychosocial rehabilitation measures, which should be interspersed to promote each other and thus play a virtuous cycle. First of all, medication should follow the principles of early detection, early treatment, full course of treatment, and relapse prevention, that is, the earlier the detection, the more timely the treatment, the longer the medication, and the better the treatment effect; furthermore, when the symptoms of schizophrenia are under control, the amount of medication must not be reduced prematurely, or even discontinued, but must be a full course of treatment for schizophrenia. The course of medication for first-episode schizophrenia is generally 2-5 years, and then relapse prevention is required during the maintenance period of treatment, including regular hospital review, adherence to medication, and psychotherapy and psychological rehabilitation measures. Psychotherapy is mainly supportive psychotherapy, that is, helping patients to relieve bad emotions and guiding them to deal with problems and challenges in their lives. Psychological rehabilitation measures are mainly for patients to participate in organized social activities or recreational activities, in order to improve the patient’s daily life and social skills, so as to better return to society.
