What characterizes the symptomatic presentation of shingles

Symptoms of herpes zoster appear in stages, typically characterized by clusters of painful blisters distributed in bands, such as the prodromal stage, the eruption stage, and special types of herpes zoster.
1. Prodromal symptoms: before the onset of rash, patients may experience mild fatigue, low fever, loss of appetite and other systemic symptoms, the affected area of the skin may appear burning or burning sensation, and there is obvious pain when touching.
2. Rash period: the affected area may appear flushed spots, followed by the appearance of millet to soybean-sized papules, clustered distribution without fusion, and quickly turned into blisters. The fluid in the blisters is clear, surrounded by a red halo, and distributed in bands along the nerves.
3. Special types of herpes zoster:
(1) ocular herpes zoster: mostly seen in the elderly, manifested as unilateral eyelid swelling, conjunctival congestion, pain is more intense, often accompanied by head pain on the same side.
(2) Ear herpes zoster: it is caused by the virus invading the facial nerve and the auditory nerve, manifested as herpes in the external auditory canal, pain in the external auditory canal and so on.
Once the above uncomfortable symptoms appear, pay attention to timely hospital consultation and treatment.
