Eyelash ingrowth, which is the growth of eyelashes backwards, is caused by a variety of possible causes. All causes that can cause lid entropion can lead to the phenomenon of eyelash ingrowth, the more common cause being trachoma, others can be seen in lid trauma, blepharitis, and blepharitis. These diseases can lead to scarring of the eyelid or lid margin, which can cause the eyelashes to grow backwards toward the eye, causing friction on the cornea and therefore causing damage, resulting in eye pain, tearing, foreign body sensation, and over time, corneal epithelial keratosis or corneal ulcers. In this case, it is necessary to remove the impingement promptly, but the condition may recur and the best cure is to remove the hair follicle by cutting open the impingement area under a microscope.
