Intensive treatment of vertebral artery cervical spondylosis with calendula oil and manipulation

Vertebral artery cervical spondylosis (CSA) is a common disease in orthopedic surgery. In our department, 30 cases of vertebral artery cervical spondylosis were treated with intravenous injection of calendula with manipulation from August 2003 to October 2004, and satisfactory results were achieved. General data The 30 cases of vertebral artery cervical spondylosis observed were all outpatients and ward patients. The shortest duration of disease was 20 days and the longest was 6 years. The oldest was 67 years old, the youngest was 28 years old, and the average age was 48.5 years old. The incidence was mostly prolonged sitting, with the head and neck working in a fixed position, especially in low-headed workers, such as clerical and accounting staff. These patients often have episodes with no a priori symptoms and sudden vertigo, and their vertigo is mostly related to the position. The most common positions are turning head, standing up and getting up. After adjusting the position, the symptoms may be relieved. Its common symptoms are vertigo, headache and neck stiffness pain. Diagnostic criteria Refer to the diagnostic criteria of vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis proposed by the Second National Symposium on Cervical Spondylosis in 1993: (1) Previous sudden collapse attack with cervical vertigo. (2) Positive neck rotation test. (3) X-rays show segmental instability or osteophytes of the hook vertebral joint. (4) Mostly accompanied by sympathetic symptoms. (5) Exclude oculogenic and otogenic vertigo. Treatment method 1.Manipulation ① Relaxation Repeatedly operate on the neck, shoulders and back with thumb pushing, kneading, holding and pinching, and press Fengchi, DaZhi, Shoulder Well, FengLong and Neiguan points for 1 minute each to relax the muscles and adapt them to the manipulation. (2) Tendon management Carefully find the positive reaction points of stiffness, contracture, cords, knots and pressure pain on both sides of the cervical vertebrae, and carefully treat them by pointing and pressing, popping and tendon management to loosen the adhesions, dissipate the stasis, and improve the pain threshold of the reaction points. ③Extraction and rotation The operator places the ten fingers of both hands overlapping on the middle part of the patient’s neck, slightly resting on it, and then performs horizontal extraction and extension in a tight and loose manner, with the strength of the patient’s feet off the ground, for 1 minute; then flexes the neck about 10-15, and rotates the extraction and extension downward once each to the left and right, so that the sound of cackling can be heard, first on the healthy side and then on the affected side. ④ Ending techniques Open the Heavenly Gate, rub the Sun, push the frontal part, take the five meridians after the end of the patting and tapping method. Time about 25-30 minutes, once a day, 10 times for a course of treatment. 2.Medication Use the injectable lanosterol 100mg+saline 250ml intravenous drip produced by Kunming Longjin Pharmaceutical Co. Treatment results 1. The efficacy criteria were formulated with reference to the “Diagnostic and efficacy criteria for Chinese medicine diseases”, and transcranial Doppler (TCD) examination was done once before treatment and once after a course of treatment. Cured: TCD examination is normal, clinical symptoms disappear, and no recurrence in six months of follow-up. Improvement: TCD close to normal, clinical symptoms basically disappeared. Ineffective: no change in TCD, clinical symptoms reduced or no change. 2. Treatment results Among 30 cases, 17 cases were cured, accounting for 56.67%; 11 cases were improved, accounting for 36.67%; 2 cases were invalid, accounting for 6.67%, with a total effective rate of 93.33%.
