How to treat hard and large thyroid nodules

Thyroid nodules are hard and large, mainly categorized into benign nodules and malignant nodules, mostly seen in hyperthyroidism, chronic fibrous thyroiditis and thyroid cancer. Different treatments are available for different types of nodules, including general treatment, medication and surgery. 1. Benign nodules: (1) Hyperthyroidism: clinically known as hyperthyroidism, mainly due to excessive iodine intake. Need to limit the iodine content as soon as possible, and take propylthiouracil tablets, methimazole and other medications. It can inhibit the secretion of thyroid hormone and promote the shrinkage of thyroid nodules. Surgery can be considered if necessary. (2) Chronic fibrous thyroiditis: it may be a single nodule or multiple nodules. If the nodule increases in size, affecting normal swallowing and causing hoarseness, surgery should be performed as soon as possible to remove the nodule, and then a pathologic biopsy should be performed after surgery to exclude malignant lesions. 2. Malignant nodule: mainly refers to thyroid cancer, which is a malignant tumor in the thyroid gland. Regarding this disease, timely surgery is needed to remove the thyroid gland (full or half cut) and clear the surrounding lymph nodes, and after the surgery, iodine 131 and chemotherapy (such as cisplatin, mitomycin, etc.) are given to treat the disease. If the hardness of the thyroid nodule is large, it is recommended to analyze the nature of the nodule through puncture biopsy in time, and then carry out regular treatment according to the cause of the disease, and remember not to use medication without authorization.
