A temperature of 38°C in infants is not normal and may be caused by respiratory infections and other causes.
Under normal circumstances, a person’s body temperature should be 36~37.2℃, if it exceeds 37.3℃, it is a state of fever. As infants have a fast metabolism, their body temperature will generally be higher than that of adults, but 38℃ is also abnormal and may be caused by respiratory tract infections, etc.
If the infant is in good spirits, it means the symptoms are mild. You can put a fever-reducing patch on the infant’s forehead or wipe the body with warm water to achieve physical cooling. Meanwhile, the infant’s armpit temperature should also be measured continuously. If the temperature continues to rise and reaches 38.5℃ or above, medicines such as ibuprofen need to be taken to reduce fever under the guidance of the doctor.
If the infant’s temperature is persistently at 38℃, or has other discomforts, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to identify the cause of the disease and then treat it.
